Why do I need Node?
If you want to use modern development tooling while coding with the Vue.js framework, we strongly recommend installing Node.js. Vue’s default build tools and support for more recent versions of JavaScript require using Node.js as a dependency.
What is Node?
This explanation probably is overly simple, but here goes:
Imagine if someone took your browser’s ability to run JavaScript and extracted it so that you did not even need a browser to run JavaScript. You could build desktop apps, mobile apps, command-line apps, and dev tools out of JavaScript. Well, that is what happened. Node is the JavaScript runtime engine from Chrome but made available for all your non-browser development needs.
