4. How To Install The Vue-CLI On Your Computer

Tutorials in This Series

This tutorial is part of a four-part series. Using this series, you will learn how to set up Vue development tools on your computer. If you would like to see the other tutorials in this series, please use the links below.

Why do I need the Vue-CLI?

There are several ways to use Vue.js in an app or webpage. The Vue-CLI, however, offers a way to use all of JavaScript’s modern tooling; such as Webpack, hot-module reloading, and linting on save. For this reason, if you want to use this modern development tooling while coding with the Vue.js framework, we strongly recommend installing the Vue-CLI.

What is the Vue-CLI?

According to the Vue-CLI documentation:

Vue CLI aims to be the standard tooling baseline for the Vue ecosystem. It ensures the various build tools work smoothly together with sensible defaults so you can focus on writing your app instead of spending days wrangling with configurations. At the same time, it still offers the flexibility to tweak the config of each tool without the need for ejecting.
