As we gear up for 2025, the landscape of website creation is evolving. Many compelling factors that can impact your budget. AI is also playing a significant role this year. The complexity and functionality of your website, along with the expertise of the development team you select, will play a pivotal role in determining the costs.

When it comes to budgeting for a website, you can anticipate spending anywhere from a few thousand dollars to upwards of $15,000. For example, if you’re aiming for a straightforward site featuring essential elements, such as a landing page, you can expect a price tag between $3,000 and $6,500. In contrast, if your vision involves a more sophisticated platform, such as one equipped with advanced features, multiple pages, and intricate design elements, you may face costs ranging from $13,000 to $70,000.

One of the key drivers of website expenses is its design and functionality. A template-based design can offer a budget-friendly route if your main goal is to disseminate information. However, opting for a custom design may require a larger investment, but it can yield a tailored user experience that stands out from the crowd. This unique approach not only enhances user engagement but also amplifies your online marketing efforts, making it a transformative investment.

Functionality is another crucial element to consider. Websites that demand advanced features, such as e-commerce capabilities (including shopping carts, product listings, and secure payment options), social media integration (with live feeds, share buttons, and account logins), and complex forms (like surveys or registration), will invariably come with a higher price tag: the more intricate the functionality, the more significant the investment required.

When selecting your development team, please don’t underestimate the value they bring to your project. While seasoned professionals might command higher fees, their proven track record in delivering top-notch websites can significantly enhance your project’s success. By collaborating with a skilled team, you can ensure your site is not only of the highest quality but also meticulously designed to align with your specific goals, offering you peace of mind that can be invaluable for your business’s online presence.

In summary, by 2025, the cost of building a website will be influenced by several essential factors. Simple sites cost between $3,000 and $6,500, while those requiring complex functionalities range from $13,000 to $70,000. This spectrum of potential costs allows you to strategize and allocate your budget effectively. Remember, your website’s ultimate cost will be shaped by your unique needs and the talented development team you choose to partner with.

As we approach 2024, the cost of building a website will change depending on various factors. These factors include the website’s complexity, functionality, and the development team you work with.

The overall cost of designing a website can range from a few thousand dollars to more than ten thousand dollars. For instance, a simple website with basic functionalities such as a landing page can cost between $2500 and $6,000. On the other hand, a complex website (one that requires advanced features, multiple pages, and intricate design) with advanced functionality such as e-commerce, social media integration, and custom design can cost between $12,000 and $50,000.

One critical factor influencing the cost of website building is its design and functionality. Opting for a simpler, template-based design can often be more cost-effective, especially if your website’s primary purpose is providing information. However, investing in a custom-designed website, despite being more expensive, can offer greater flexibility and a unique user experience tailored to your needs. This can significantly improve your online marketing presence and user engagement, making it a worthwhile investment.

The third factor is the website’s functionality. Websites that require advanced functionalities such as e-commerce (including shopping carts, product listings, and secure payment gateways), social media integration (such as live feeds, sharing buttons, and social media account logins), and custom forms (like complex contact forms, surveys, or registration forms) will cost more than simple websites. Additionally, the more complicated the functionality, the more expensive the website.

When choosing a development team, it’s essential to consider the value they bring to your website. While experienced teams may charge more, their track record of building high-quality websites can be a significant asset. By working with a professional team, you can ensure that your website meets your specific needs and is of the highest quality, which is crucial for your business’s online success. This reassurance in the quality of your website can be a valuable peace of mind for your business.

In conclusion, the cost of building a website in 2024 will vary depending on several factors. You can expect to pay between $2500 and $6,000 for a simple website. However, if you need a complex website with advanced functionalities, you can expect to pay between $12,000 and $50,000. This wide range of costs should give you a clear idea of what to expect and help you prepare your budget accordingly. Remember, the cost of building a website will depend on your specific needs and the development team you choose to work with.

According to Smashing Magazine, 58% of all website visits in 2018 were from users on mobile devices. This means that in 2019, mobile visitors account for over half of all web pages served. This trend is significant in many ways and at minimum means that having a mobile friendly and responsive website is more important than ever. In fact, having a mobile friendly site is so important that Google ranks it as a leading factor in determining a website’s Search Engine Optimization (SEO) score.

So what does this mean for me and my business? We’re glad you asked. Some businesses are fine with a website and some need an app to handle their user’s additional requests and advanced product or service offerings, however, there is a happy medium between the two former solutions. Enter progressive web apps, which are like a hybrid between custom websites and native apps. They have more to offer than a traditional website and are less involved than shopping for, downloading and signing up for a native app.

Progressive Web App Factors

So how do I know if I need a website, progressive web app or native app? Great question, for most businesses a custom website fits the bill. Especially if the site is mainly informational. For businesses with more advanced offerings, there are a few things to consider:

Will your customers be returning to use the app frequently?

Would you like to send push notifications to your users?

How much is your budget?

To App or Not to App

The final decision – if your customers use your app frequently, you would like to send push notifications to increase retention and you have a sizable, dedicated budget, then a native app may be your best bet. Alternatively, if your customers only return to your site occasionally, you don’t need to send push notifications and you would like a solution that is quick and more affordable, a progressive web app may be what you are seeking. If you are considering a web app or would like more information, feel free to contact RdyToGo today. Here are some examples of progressive web apps.

Where is the line drawn between public and sensitive information? And what measures can you take to ensure you’re less at risk to divulging too much of your clients’ personal data?

Here at RdyToGo, we handle all kinds of sensitive data needs, from clients in the medical field to e-commerce solutions, and we know the kind of security this information needs. Legal fines for breaches can prove immensely costly, and nobody wants to tangle in a months or years-long court battle over improper network standards.

If you handle anything you can even begin to see as sensitive data, even if it’s not yet on the level of credit card numbers and SSNs, don’t hesitate and don’t be unprepared. Today, we’ll tell you what you should look out for in the information you’re gathering, and how you can carefully handle it.

What They Don’t Want You To See

First thing first, it’s important to know what kind of information is legally considered sensitive. This can often depend on the state or jurisdiction, but there are clear patterns. Social Security Numbers and credit cards are the major players – this information is often targeted and used maliciously.

However, in many places, even phone numbers and addresses can be considered sensitive data – and you will certainly get unhappy clients if you let info like this slip.

In addition, in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), any medical information and patient history you have to deal with is considered sensitive data.

Are You Protected?

So, how can you make sure nobody gets their hands on this difficult kind of data?

Obviously, your internal network structure is going to need proper security protocols, but that’s not the only thing you need to worry about.

While internet hackers and poor security can undo you, don’t forget about your physical access ports. Quite a lot of data can be harvested by someone simply plugging a USB port somewhere they shouldn’t have.

Securing your machines physically, keeping them in enclosed, locked racks, or a highly secure server room, is critical for keeping data where it’s supposed to be.

Also, make sure that the only people who can access it are the people that absolutely need it. Restrict passwords and authorization to the barest minimum possible number of people, to lower the risk that one of them might decide to turn an illegal profit, or simply makes a mistake.

In this breach-heavy world of modern cybersecurity, you can never be protected enough. So get yourself a network security expert as soon as you can, and keep valuable data out of the hands of hacker!

Email Marketing – Avoid a Blast from the Past

Think about the worst email experience you’ve ever had for a minute. Surely you know the hassle of sifting through your inbox for an important message, only to be bombarded with notice after notice from services you’ve used only once or twice.

Now tell me – do you want to be the kind of person who sends all these emails that nobody ever reads?

You can’t afford to waste time on email marketing that just gets dumped straight in the trash. A customer’s inbox is some of the most valuable but highly competitive space out there. You’re basically in their personal space, and people either don’t bother reading it or keep it excessively clean.

So how should you handle your email strategy?

Keep It Important

Any email your audience reads should signify something relevant and interesting to them. For some customers, this might not be anything – many people only use a service once or twice, or even not at all after signing up. Your job isn’t to spam them with twelve messages every day reminding them you exist. That’s a one-way ticket to the unsubscribe button or a spam filter.

What you should instead think about is this – what about this email will engage our customers to keep connected to you, and hopefully decide you’re worth their money?

The answer is a simple pitch, something you only need to send once, maybe adding to inboxes once every week or two. It should be something important and crucial to anyone who’s ever used your service. The casual subscriber doesn’t need to hear every change or event you ever go through – that’s for the people who are already engaged in your community.

A good rule of thumb is that you shouldn’t send emails more often than people are actually logging in to your service. If they haven’t touched your website in over six months, it’s definitely time to remove them altogether from your mailing list.

Smarter Software

When you have a lot of information on what your mailing list’s demographics are, you should make good use of that, especially if your line of products is large and diverse. For example, if you sell anything and everything related to the beach, senior citizens are probably not going to care about your top of the line surfboards, and the young likely are going to ignore your water-proof mobility equipment.

Look into email segmentation as a solution, especially if you’re using dedicated email marketing software. With this, you can split up who sees what emails based on any number of demographic factors. That way, you can make sure you’re marketing to people actually in the market.

You may think email marketing is getting obsolete in today’s multi-faceted digital world. But people are still checking their inboxes. It’s just become a space you need to be smarter to sell with.

However, if nobody knows who you are and nobody likes the look of what you’re showing them, you won’t be making any money.

Your promotional materials are the face you give to the public. Business cards, brochures, flyers, billboards, and most importantly your website. When your organization grows to include all of these things, you’ll need to decide what your overall public image is.

That’s where a marketing agency can step in and help! We’ll work with you to make sure your clients remember what your company’s about. Here are just a few tips to keep in mind for your design motifs.

Whenever logos come up, people tend to think they need to get the next ‘Nike swoosh’ to escalate their company. Your logo is powerful, but it isn’t magic! You’ll want it to be smart and distinctive but capture what you do.

Too simple and abstract, and it doesn’t say anything – plus, you risk if someone else has had that idea before you.

Too complex, and nobody can remember it. That’s not to say it can’t be ornate, but it has to come together into something understandable. A lion emblem is a good example of this: styling on the mane can be very elaborate and complex to get across a regal feel, but it’s ultimately a lion and people will remember it by that.

It’s well known even outside designers that certain colors convey certain feelings. Blue is calm and professional, orange is vibrant and lively, red is strong and passionate. While this is useful to keep in mind, it’s nowhere near a hard and fast rule. What colors you re-use in your designs are not as important as how you use them!

The key is balance and moderation. It’s tempting to get a vivid and color-filled website or business card, but the end result is often hard to read…not to mention expensive, since that uses up costly ink!

Always keep in mind to never have elements of similar brightness and colorful natures next to or on top of each other. Bright red next to bright blue, even though they are different colors, will make your material hard to follow, or difficult to read if there’s text involved. Light text on vivid dark backgrounds, or vice versa, will make sure your website or magazine is enjoyable to read!

If you’re just starting out in building up your design scheme, you’ll want to make sure your materials share common elements. Every visual from your company should look like it’s part of a family, so to speak, so it’ll build a connection in your client’s mind.

They see your business card, and remember your website, which comes back to them when you put up a billboard. How all these fit together will build up your brand into a unified whole. Later, when you expand, you can experiment with changing your materials to more be about a unifying message, with design elements complementing it, but that’s for another article.

In short, make sure accents are similar across all your materials. Don’t use a wavy border on your business card when your website’s more square and boxy in appearance, as an example.

So, to recap: don’t worry too much about the ‘perfect’ logo, make sure you’re not going overboard with the colors, and think about every design you get made as part of the same thing.

If you remember these guidelines, you’re well on your way to understanding graphic design more than most of your competitors!

Accomplishing Our Mission

Have you heard about “Pro-How?” It is RdyToGo’s technology education and training initiative. Part of RdyToGo’s mission is to educate and empower people. Our goal is to help entrepreneurs better the world. We feel that education and training are vital to accomplishing our goal. So, we created Pro-How to help people fulfill this need and to help them grow.

The Myrtle Beach Vue JavaScript Meetup and Workshops

As part of RdyToGo’s Pro-How tech education initiative, we organize technology-based Meetups. These are small gatherings where people can socialize and learn about technology in a safe and structured environment, no matter their skill level and background. Recently, we started the Vue JavaScript Meetup in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. During our first Vue JavaScript Workshop on Tuesday, July 10, we showed the group how to start with Vue.js. This workshop included a review of the Vue.js ecosystem development tools.

A New Beginner-Level Video Tutorial Series

Naturally, we want to ensure that everybody can participate in the training, no matter their skill level. So, we are announcing that we are releasing a 4-part video tutorial series on the RdyToGo website that shows how to set up and configure these Vue Development Tools for absolute beginners.

The first tutorial demonstrates how to install Node.js. Node is an essential dependency in the Vue.js ecosystem and enables the ability to code JavaScript using modern techniques and outside of the browser environment.

We want to encourage everyone interested in web development or coding to watch our first tutorial, “How to install Node.js on your computer.”

That means a shift in pricing for sites and what you can expect to get for your money.

Gone are the days of relying on fixed text-only websites and seemingly simple build-your-own-site services.
Responsive Design

The Pew Research Center reports that over 77% of Americans own smartphones in 2018 – a number that is only expected to rise to near complete adoption by the 2020s. For most, these mobile devices are far and away the most common means of accessing the web. To put it bluntly, if your website isn’t compatible with a full suite of mobile functionality, users will not continue to return there, as over half of America’s population prefers mobile devices over desktops to browse the web. Any online media presence must take into account both desktop and mobile users, with a design unified yet adaptable to the full range of standard web devices.

Common features essential to mobile functionality include:

A responsive site design – taking into account both a mostly vertical, touch-based interface of mobile phones and the mouse-operated landscape perspective of desktops.

Streamlined interconnectivity with favorite mobile social media apps, like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the like.

Functions commonly used by mobile users, such as one-click phone number dialing.

Lower overhead to account for mobile data limitations.

If your website-building agency is charging specific extra fees for mobile compatibility – take caution. Most companies on the market will include this function as part of a standard package with no surcharge incurred for inclusion.

Search Engine Optimization

For search engines and other web crawlers to find and highlight your website, a process known as Search Engine Optimization, or SEO addresses valuable metrics to improve your website’s rank. A commonly brought up but often misunderstood method, SEO makes sure that the site follows guidelines set out by Google, Bing, and other search engines. The more measures are taken to make the website connect well with these larger web crawlers, the higher it will rank on searches and the more likely it is customers will find your company.

The average cost for SEO consultation tends to range from $100-$300 per hour. The time to complete the process varies – smaller companies with fewer areas of operation will find total costs closer to $2,000-$5,000, whereas larger firms will see the expense closer to $20,000-$25,000.

E-Commerce and SSL Certification

Not only do most people browse the web on mobile devices, but many also do so primarily for e-commerce. The Internet is the premier marketplace for purchasing almost every good and service there is; and if your company cannot sell its products over the web, it will have a hard time succeeding in 2018 and beyond. E-commerce functionality will form the core of any site – and with that comes many risks. Users will be entering a broad array of sensitive personal information to engage in common website functions – from their address and date of birth to their credit card and social security numbers. This data is where securing your website against a breach of this information is essential. If your site is vulnerable to having customers’ private information stolen, you could be facing hefty fines and legal trouble.

An SSL Certificate is a layer of security to protect the website from remote breaches on a user’s connection with the site. In 2018, Google will begin requiring SSL certificates on any website it is accessing, meaning that without this security, your site will be flagged as unsafe and displayed as such – as well as harder to reach through Google-centered networks.

Depending on the warranty protection and level of security needed, SSL certificates can range from free of charge to a $200/year.

Periodic Content

As part of SEO, your website needs to be active and engaged with its community. Publishing your site is not the final step of company’s online web marketing campaign. Interconnected social media, frequently updated information, and news posts are crucial to your success on the web. Articles, video content, photos, all of these help in making your website look live and active to search engine results, as well as to the end user.

Most agencies charge on a per-page or per-word basis for content creation or copywriting. Often $1 per word or approximately $200-$500 per page (a reasonably average word count for a single piece of content). Depending on the requirements and needs of the client – if they want a blog post or other copy designed to try and go viral, that often takes specialized writers who will charge closer to $2000 to $3000 for the post. Smaller blog posts that aren’t as crucial and don’t have as many requirements will often be closer to $50-$150 to write.

How Your Website Should Be Designed

The structure and layout of your website’s homepage, along with its sub-pages, is crucial to both audience engagement and search engine results. A balance must be present between information and simple presentation. Too much content up front, and it is hard for users to sift through to find what they need. Too little, and your page is too thin in substance to fit search engine criteria.

The ideal way for your website to present itself is to tell a story, starting evocative and straightforward, and then elaborating upon that core idea as the user travels through the site. The front page should be exciting and intriguing to first-time users, but also make information quickly accessible to returning users. Place important content in apparent locations that make sense to all people visiting your website. Design choices should prioritize convenience.

With well-designed pages and useful content, your website will shine in 2018.
